Calva Louise - Headlining the US

Calva Louise are in the middle of their first US headlining tour, bringing their latest album Edge of the Abyss to life across the country. I was lucky enough to link up with them during their Houston stop for both a photoshoot and live coverage.

Before the show, we carved out some time to shoot promos. After digging into their style and the visuals behind their music videos, I knew I wanted to lean hard into darker, ethereal vibes. Finding the right spot near venues can be tricky, but I struck gold this time finding a vacant lot with a gnarly, dead tree that looked like it belong on horror film. The second I saw it, I knew this shoot was going to be sick. Huge shoutout to Calva Louise for braving the Texas heat and relentless mosquitoes to make it happen.

One of my favorite parts of shooting music is meeting incredible people, and Calva Louise are exactly that. Hanging out before the show was a reminder to slow down and be present, which is something I didn’t realize I needed until that moment. Their kindness and energy really stuck with me.

Then came the show itself—an absolute blast to photograph and even more fun to experience. The new album is packed with infectious tracks, and I keep catching myself humming riffs and hooks days later. If you haven’t spun Edge of the Abyss yet, do yourself a favor and dive in.

Big thanks to Calva Louise for having me out and for the hospitality—can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
