Sickick - The World Is Ending Tour

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to shoot with Sickick before his performance at Stereo Live in Houston, TX. This was my first time at the venue, and while scouting for a spot, I discovered a killer room upstairs with a single loveseat perfectly placed in the center of a recessed area. The moment I saw it, I knew it was the one.

Pre-show shoots are always on a tight schedule, so I kept it simple with a two-light setup. Fortunately, I had some extra prep time while soundcheck was underway, which allowed me to get creative. Inspired by Sickick’s striking blue mask for the night, I decided to light the scene predominantly in blue, using gels to add some flair to the shots.

After the shoot, I stayed to cover his set. While I’ve photographed countless live shows, this was my first time shooting a DJ —and it was an absolute blast. Sickick puts on a hell of a show.

Huge thanks to Sickick and his team for being awesome to work with and for having me out.

Boris - Amplifier Worship Service Tour

Boris recently concluded their North American Amplifier Worship Service Tour, and I had the privilege of covering the Houston stop. I also had the opportunity to do a backstage photoshoot with the band before their set. This was my first time experiencing Boris live, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. However, "incredible" barely scratches the surface. The atmosphere they crafted while performing Amplifier Worship was truly immersive and powerful. It’s a show that will stay with me for a long time.

Until I Wake - Houston, TX

In October, I had the chance to catch up with Until I Wake before their show in Houston. We met up near the venue for a quick photoshoot, and they were an all-around great group—easy to work with and super nice.

Beg to Serve 2024

A couple of months ago, I found out Angelmaker would be stopping in Houston in October, and I was lucky enough to arrange a photoshoot with one of their vocalists, Casey Tyson-Pearce. I’ve been listening to Angelmaker for years, so meeting Casey and shooting with him was great.

We kept things simple with a quick shoot near the venue at an abandoned car dealership. For lighting, I used a straightforward two-light setup: the main light was a large parabolic umbrella, complemented by a medium softbox to add some subtle fill.

After the photoshoot with Casey, I stuck around to catch Angelmaker’s live set and capture some shots of their performance. The energy was unreal, and it was a great chance to shoot each band on the lineup.

Urban Heat

I recently discovered Urban Heat and was instantly hooked on their music. They were on their North American tour, and I was stoked to connect with them at their Houston, TX show at White Oak Music Hall.

Before their set, I grabbed a quick shoot with the band. I found an interesting spot across from the venue that complemented their vibe.

Their show was brilliant. I’m definitely looking forward to catching them again at their next Houston show.
